Historia bitxia du liburuak: Eusebio Erkiagak 1950eko hamarkadaren hasiera aldera egindako itzulpena da, galdu egin zen gero, eta Andres Urrutia euskaltzainburuak aurkitu orain denbora asko ez dela. Berau arduratu da edizio lanaz eta hitzaurrea egiteaz. Eusebio Erkiaga (Lekeitio, 1912- Bilbo, 1993) hil zeneanAndres Urrutiak erabaki zuen idazle honen hitz lauzko lan guztiak abtzea. Gauza jakina zen itzulpen hori egina zuela, aurkeztu baitzuen 1954ko lehiaketa batera, Euskaltzaindiak antolatua. Hirugarren gelditu zen, eta eskuizkribua, berriz, Euskaltzaindiaren artxiboan gelditu zen, argitaratu barik. Gaizki artxibatu zen, ordea: Estanislao Urruzola Uxola-ren izena erantsi zioten. ASPALDIKO MAIGRET Lan honen jatorriko izena La Première Enquête de Maigret da. Maigret protagonista daukan polizia nobela asko idatzi ebazan Simenonek, osperik handiena lan horreek emon eutsiela esan daiteke.
